1、Publication Focus

This journal is a purely academic periodical. We welcome submissions related to social work, social welfare, social policy, and methodological issues, which have not been published elsewhere. We also accept book reviews of academic books on social work, social welfare, or social policy published within the last two years, both domestically and internationally. The journal only accepts papers that have not been formally published in other journals or books and does not allow simultaneous submissions. If a submission is found by the editorial board to have been submitted elsewhere, or if the content is too similar to an already published or currently submitted paper, the journal reserves the right to reject the submission. The journal is published biannually in June and December.

2、Paper Types and Formatting Guidelines

2-1.Submissions are categorized into four types according to their nature. Authors should classify their papers upon submission:

2-1-1.Research Articles: Original empirical research or theoretical papers, be limited to 20,000 characters in Chinese or 10,000 words in English.

2-1-2.Research Issues or Review Articles: Papers that review and summarize recent developments on academic topics, or that explore specific issues and stimulate conceptual discussions, be limited to 15,000 characters in Chinese or 10,000 words in English.

2-1-3.Research Notes: A brief discussion on methodological issues and solutions, or papers involving small-scale studies or preliminary data collection, analysis, and discussion on specific topics, be limited to 10,000 words in both Chinese and English.

2-1-4.Book Reviews: Reviews of academic books published domestically or internationally, be limited to 5,000 words in both Chinese and English.

2-2.Formatting requirements:

2-2-1.Submissions should follow the latest APA format (7th edition).

2-2-2.The first page of the paper should include the title, paper type, and word count (including references), as well as Chinese and English abstracts (Chinese abstract should be within 400 characters, excluding keywords; English abstract should be within 600 words). Keywords (no more than five) should also be included. For Chinese papers, an English version of all relevant information is required, and for English papers, a Chinese version is required.

2-2-3.Submissions should be in WORD format and anonymized. Font size, formatting, and spacing should follow the journal's previous publications. Please follow the instructions for removing personal attributes from the file.

2-2-4.Authors may recommend up to two reviewers for the paper.

3、Review Process and Method

3-1.Upon receiving a submission, the journal will first conduct a formal review. If the paper does not meet the requirements outlined in Section II, it will be returned. The editorial board will then vote on whether to accept the submission. If accepted, the editorial board will suggest potential reviewers, and based on votes and expertise, the reviewers will be chosen. The paper will be sent for review. Book reviews will undergo a formal review by one editorial board member. If approved, the review will be published without further peer review.

3-2. A paper will be eligible for publication if it receives approval from two anonymous reviewers. If the reviewers' opinions differ, a third reviewer will be consulted. Regardless of the reviewers' opinions, the final decision to accept or reject a paper lies with the editorial board. The review outcome will be communicated to the author in a timely manner. If the paper is accepted for publication, the author must provide professional proof of the accuracy of the English abstract.

3-3.If an author disagrees with a rejection, they may appeal within one month of receiving the decision. The editorial board will convene to discuss the appeal, and the outcome will be communicated to the author. Appeals are limited to one per paper.

3-4.The journal strictly requires APA format. If a paper does not adhere to this format, the journal reserves the right to reject it. If a paper is accepted for publication, the author remains responsible for revisions; otherwise, it will not be published.

3-5.To protect the rights of research subjects and align with trends in top international journals, as of January 2026, submissions must have prior approval from a research ethics committee before being considered for publication.

4、Copyright

4-1.Upon publication, the copyright of the submitted paper belongs to the journal. Authors will receive one copy of the issue and an electronic copy of the final version of their paper. No honorarium will be provided.

4-2.The content of submissions must not violate copyright laws or other relevant legal regulations. The author is solely responsible for any violations. If authors wish to publish or distribute their paper elsewhere, prior approval from the journal is required.

4-3.Authors of accepted papers retain the copyright to their published work but must complete a copyright authorization form. This grants the journal and the National Taiwan University Press, along with any authorized partners, a free, non-exclusive license to reproduce and upload the paper online for non-profit searching, reading, downloading, and printing by readers.

5、Submission of Manuscripts

Submissions are accepted year-round. There is no submission deadline, and manuscripts are reviewed upon receipt. Please submit through the submission system at: http://www.ipress.tw/J0154.

6、These submission guidelines will be implemented after approval by the editorial board. Revisions will follow the same procedure.
